It's a question I've been asked many times:
“Why another church? Aren’t there already plenty between Eastgate, Amelia, Withamsville, and Batavia? Why not just plug into one that already exists?”
I understand that question because I used to ask it myself. But a few years ago, God opened my eyes to the spiritual condition of our region and the state of much of the modern church. Once I saw it, I couldn't unsee it, and that burden has only grown heavier with time.
The simple truth is this: the harvest is still plentiful, but too many laborers have been lulled to sleep.
Yes, there are church buildings on nearly every corner. And by God’s grace, there are faithful churches in Clermont County that are holding fast to the gospel. We thank God for them, and we want to labor side by side with them.
But we also have to be honest. Not every church is preaching Christ clearly, and many have drifted toward comfort or compromise. Worship can slip into performance, preaching into self-help, discipleship into programs. And when holiness is neglected, hype fills the gap.
We don't say this because we think we’ve figured it out or because we’re in competition. We don't own the truth; it belongs to God. But we are convicted that another faithful witness is needed on the East Side.
Outside the walls of our churches are thousands of people who are still spiritually hungry. Some have been hurt and left. Some grew up around church but never heard the gospel clearly. And many have never opened a Bible at all.
They don't need another event. They need real hope, real truth, and real transformation. They need a church that opens the Bible and trembles.
When I drive around Clermont County, I don’t just see schools, parks, and neighborhoods. I see souls.
I see families running hard from one event to the next, but still empty inside.
I see men chasing money and success, but failing to lead their homes in the Word.
I see teenagers growing up without ever hearing the gospel.
I see weary eyes, broken marriages, quiet addictions, and Sunday smiles that mask Monday despair.
This is what happens when the church reflects the world instead of shining as a lampstand of truth. Paul told Timothy this day would come:
“For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions.” (2 Tim. 4:3)
That time isn't just coming, it’s already here.
We are not planting Cornerstone because we think we're better than anyone else. We're planting because we are burdened. God has called us to preach Christ crucified, call sinners to repentance, disciple believers deeply in the Scriptures, and raise a church marked by holiness, humility, and mission, not style, personality, or consumer strategy.
Our foundation isn't charisma or cleverness, it's Christ.
“For no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.” (1 Cor. 3:11)
Our prayer is to see men and women awakened by the Word, shaped into Christ's image, and sent out to multiply disciples and churches across the East Side, into Brown and Adams County, and, Lord willing, to the ends of the earth.
We're not building a platform. We're building a church with Christ at the center.
This fall, we're opening the door for you to hear more. We're hosting two Meet-Ups, casual gatherings where you can hear the vision, ask questions, and meet others stepping into this work with us.
Sundays, September 28 & October 26
6:00–7:00 PM
RJ Cinema (Eastgate), under the tent
If you're tired of shallow religion, long for something deeper, or are simply searching for truth, we'd love for you to join us. Come with your questions, come as you are. There's a seat waiting for you.
Cornerstone Church is being planted not because it's easy but because Christ is worthy.
We exist to preach repentance, pursue holiness, and proclaim the gospel until Christ returns or calls us home. And we would love for you to be part of the story.
