When we set out to plant a church on the Eastside of Cincinnati, we knew we did not want to build something trendy, temporary, or tied to a personality. We wanted to build something eternal. Something that could stand the test of time. That is why we named our church Cornerstone.

Scripture speaks clearly:

“So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone.”
Ephesians 2:19–20

The cornerstone is the first and most important stone laid in ancient construction. Every other stone must align with it. If the cornerstone is off, the whole building is compromised. But when Christ is the Cornerstone, the church is strong, steady, and enduring.

Why Cincinnati?

We believe God has sovereignly placed us here for a reason. Cincinnati is a city with deep Catholic roots, rich with history and tradition, but often lacking clarity on the Gospel of grace through faith in Christ alone. At the same time, this region sits on the edge of Appalachia, where a wave of charismatic extremes and emotionalism has swept through churches, often replacing biblical teaching with spectacle and subjective experiences.

In one direction, people have been raised in rigid religious systems teaching salvation through works. In the other, they've been exposed to chaotic spiritual practices that elevate personal revelation over God's Word.

We believe the answer is neither cold religion nor charismatic confusion. The answer is Christ, the true Cornerstone, and a return to Scripture as our sole authority.

We do not want to build a church on tradition or hype. We want to build on truth. Cincinnati needs more churches rooted in sound doctrine, fueled by grace, and centered on Christ alone.

Theological Foundation: Built on the Apostles and Prophets

The early church was built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, meaning the God-breathed revelation we now hold in Scripture. The prophets pointed forward to Christ, and the apostles testified to Christ. Every chapter, promise, and command flows from the Person and work of Jesus Christ, who is the cornerstone and the head of the church.

The foundation has already been laid, and it is not ours to change. We do not build on new visions or modern strategies, but on ancient truth that is still alive and active (Hebrews 4:12). This is why we preach the Word, disciple people in the Word, and seek to align every part of our ministry with the Word.

Christ, Not a Man, is the Head of the Church

This church is not built on a man's charisma, cleverness, or creativity. The Church belongs to Christ. He is the Head (Colossians 1:18), the Builder (Matthew 16:18), and the Chief Shepherd (1 Peter 5:4).

We refuse to be another church chasing after crowds or trends. Instead, we submit ourselves to Scripture alone, trusting that Christ is enough to lead, feed, and grow His Church through His Word and Spirit.

Why This Matters

When churches are built on tradition, talent, or theatrics, they may grow fast—but they often fall hard. We are not interested in building something flashy. We want to develop something faithful.

Jesus is the Cornerstone.
Scripture is the foundation.
The mission is clear: make disciples who abide, obey, and multiply.
