Visiting a new church can be intimidating, especially if you haven't attended church in a while or you're unfamiliar with what to expect. You might wonder what the worship service will be like, what to wear, whether there's something for your children, or if you'll feel out of place. At Cornerstone Church of Cincinnati, we understand those questions, and we want you to know that we'd love to have you join us.

Cornerstone is a growing church located on the Eastside of Cincinnati, serving families and individuals throughout Eastgate, Amelia, Batavia, Withamsville, Bethel, and the surrounding communities. We gather every Sunday at 10:00 AM at Willowville Elementary School in Eastgate, Ohio. While we may meet in a school building, our desire is to be a faithful local church where people hear the Word of God, grow in their understanding of the gospel, and develop meaningful relationships with other believers.

What Does a Sunday Morning Look Like?

Our Sunday gatherings are intentionally simple and centered on the worship of God. We believe the church gathers primarily to glorify God through the preaching of His Word, congregational singing, prayer, fellowship, and the observance of the Lord's Supper. Rather than trying to create an entertaining experience, our desire is to faithfully practice what Scripture teaches concerning the gathered church.

When you arrive, you'll be greeted by members of our church family who can help you find your way around, answer questions, and assist you with checking in your children if needed. You're welcome to grab a cup of coffee, meet some people, and get settled before worship begins at 10:00 AM. We want visitors to feel welcomed without feeling singled out or pressured.

Our worship music includes both historic hymns and modern songs that are rich in biblical truth. We believe congregational singing is an important part of worship because it allows the church to proclaim the truth of God's Word together. Our goal isn't to provide a concert or performance but to encourage the entire congregation to lift their voices in praise to the Lord.

Biblical Preaching Is Central to Our Worship

One of the most important things you'll notice at Cornerstone is our commitment to the preaching and teaching of Scripture. We believe the Bible is the inspired, authoritative, and sufficient Word of God, and because of that conviction, it guides everything we believe and practice as a church.

Our preaching is primarily expositional, which simply means we work through passages and books of the Bible, seeking to understand what God has said in His Word. Rather than beginning with our own ideas and searching for verses to support them, we begin with Scripture and allow the text to shape the message. Each Sunday, we seek to explain the meaning of the passage, understand its context, and consider how its truth applies to our lives.

Our sermons generally last around 35 minutes, and whether we're studying an Old Testament narrative or one of Paul's letters, our desire is to faithfully point people to Jesus Christ. We believe the gospel isn't simply the starting point of the Christian life but the foundation upon which the entire Christian life is built. We aren't interested in merely helping people become more moral, successful, or religious. We want people to know Christ, understand His Word, and grow as faithful disciples.

What About Children and Families?

We love children at Cornerstone and believe they are an important part of the life of the church. We also believe parents have been given the primary responsibility of discipling their children, and our desire is to come alongside families as they teach their children the truths of Scripture.

During our Sunday gathering, we provide nursery and preschool care for younger children. Elementary-aged children are encouraged to participate in the opening portion of our worship service alongside their families. Following congregational worship and the Lord's Supper, parents have the option of sending their elementary-aged children to an age-appropriate Bible lesson where they can continue learning from God's Word.

We recognize that every family is different, and parents are always welcome to keep their children with them throughout the entire worship service. In fact, we love seeing multiple generations worshiping together. Our desire is not simply to keep children occupied on Sunday mornings but to help them develop a foundation of biblical truth and an understanding of the gospel.

Why Do We Observe the Lord's Supper Every Sunday?

Another important part of our weekly worship is the observance of the Lord's Supper, sometimes referred to as communion. At Cornerstone, we believe this ordinance is a gift Christ gave to His church, reminding believers of His sacrificial death and the salvation accomplished through His finished work on the cross.

Each Sunday, we take time to remember the body and blood of Christ given for His people, proclaiming His death until He comes again. We believe this practice keeps the gospel before us and reminds us that our hope is not found in our own righteousness or religious efforts but entirely in Jesus Christ.

If you're visiting and are not a Christian, we encourage you to observe this part of our worship and consider the significance of what Jesus accomplished through His death and resurrection. There is no pressure to participate, and we're always happy to answer questions about what we believe and why we practice communion weekly.

What Kind of Church Is Cornerstone?

Cornerstone Church of Cincinnati was planted with a simple mission: To glorify God by making disciples of Jesus Christ on the Eastside of Cincinnati and beyond. We believe the church exists to proclaim the gospel, teach the whole counsel of God's Word, equip believers for ministry, and send disciples into the world to make disciples.

We are a church committed to the authority of Scripture, the centrality of the gospel, and the importance of biblical discipleship. We believe salvation is entirely a work of God's grace, received through faith in Jesus Christ, and that those who have been saved are called to live lives of repentance, obedience, and growing holiness.

As a new church plant, we are still growing and developing many aspects of our ministry, but our convictions are firmly rooted in Scripture. We aren't seeking to reinvent the church or develop something new for the sake of being different. Our desire is to be a faithful local church built upon the foundation of God's Word, with Jesus Christ Himself as our Cornerstone.
