It's hard to believe we're already approaching November! Just over six weeks ago, Cornerstone Church of Cincinnati officially launched on the Eastside of Cincinnati, and we've been incredibly encouraged by what God has been doing. Each Sunday, we've had the privilege of gathering together at Willowville Elementary School in Eastgate to worship the Lord, open His Word, and continue building relationships with one another.
Over these first several weeks, we've welcomed new families from throughout Eastgate, Amelia, Batavia, and the surrounding communities. We've seen familiar faces return, new friendships begin, and people take steps toward becoming part of our church family. While we're thankful for the number of people who have joined us, what encourages us most is seeing individuals and families express a desire to know Christ, understand His Word, and grow as disciples.
We've recently been walking through Paul's letter to the Galatians in our sermon series, Grace Alone: A Study of Galatians. Each week, we've been reminded that the gospel is not about what we can accomplish through our own efforts but about what Jesus Christ has already accomplished on behalf of sinners. Paul's words have challenged us to examine what we believe, where we place our confidence, and whether our lives are truly being shaped by the gospel of grace.
Alongside our Sunday gatherings, our men's and women's Bible studies continue to provide opportunities for people to study Scripture, pray together, and build meaningful relationships. We've also begun hosting our Foundations membership classes, where those interested in becoming members can learn more about our beliefs, mission, and what it means to belong to a local church. We're grateful for the families who have already participated and look forward to continuing those conversations in the coming weeks.
As we move toward the end of the year, we're especially excited about our first Christmas season together as a church. Beginning Sunday, November 29, we'll enter the Advent season with four weeks of worship centered on the coming of Jesus Christ. We'll also have a special Christmas presentation from our children on December 13 and conclude our Advent gatherings with a Christmas candlelight service on Sunday, December 20.
Christmas provides a wonderful opportunity to invite friends, neighbors, and family members to hear the good news of Jesus Christ. Whether you've been part of Cornerstone since the beginning or have never visited, we'd love for you to join us as we celebrate the birth of our Savior.
As we look toward the coming months, our prayer remains the same as it was when we first began preparing to plant Cornerstone: that God would be glorified as people are saved by His grace, grounded in His truth, formed into faithful disciples, and sent out to make disciples.
We recognize that we're still a young church with much to learn, but we're grateful for the Lord's faithfulness and for the people He continues to bring together. Our desire isn't simply to grow a Sunday gathering but to establish a faithful, healthy local church that will proclaim the gospel and serve Cincinnati's Eastside for generations to come.
