In Week 2 of Foundations at Cornerstone Church, we begin to see what God’s saving grace produces. The gospel does not merely rescue individuals; it forms a people. God does not save us to walk alone, but to be built together on Christ.
Ephesians 2 shows us that we are no longer strangers and aliens, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God. Christ Himself is the cornerstone, and everything about the church rests on Him.
The church is not defined by personalities, traditions, or programs. It is defined by Jesus and His finished work.
Because Christ is the foundation, His Word must guide His church. We do not invent our own message or mission. Scripture alone shapes what we believe, how we worship, how we lead, and how we live together.
Belonging to Jesus also means belonging to His people. Through baptism and shared life, God gathers us into a family. He forms us through the Word, prayer, fellowship, and the Lord’s Supper. He raises up servant leaders to shepherd His church, and He gives every believer gifts to build up the body.
The church is not a crowd of spectators, but a living body being shaped and strengthened over time.
Because of grace, we are brought near.
Because of Christ, we are built together.
Because of God’s faithfulness, we grow as His people.
This is what He is forming: a household, a body, a family. Built on Christ alone.
