In Ephesians 2:1–10, Paul takes us straight to the heart of the gospel. Apart from Christ, we are not simply sick, wounded, confused, or struggling—we are spiritually dead. And dead people cannot give themselves life.
But God.
Because of His great love, mercy, and grace, God makes dead sinners alive together with Christ. Salvation does not begin with us cleaning ourselves up, becoming religious, or trying harder. God initiates, God gives life, Christ saves, and we respond in repentance and faith.
And the grace that saves us also sends us. We are not saved by good works, but we are saved for good works—living as God’s people in our homes, workplaces, schools, neighborhoods, and beyond.
BIG IDEA: God takes spiritually dead sinners and makes them alive in Christ by grace through faith.
